Thank You

Hi Everyone. With the AGM having just passed, we have a brand new committee at the helm of SIM Floorball Club. I thought it would be only appropriate that as the outgoing President, i would share my thoughts on the year that passed.

Firstly, i would like to congratulate the new committee for organising the AGM. My apologies for not being able to attend the AGM due to revision class in school. I heard it was a great success and full credit goes to the new committee. You have definitely showed us that you are indeed the right people to lead the club at this moment.

When the Exco took over in 2008, we had a huge task on our hands. Partly due to the excellent job of previous committees and the high standards that they have set. The club at that time though young in age was growing from strength to strength.

2008 has been a great year. The club has seen a major increase in members. Several events and gatherings were organised, most notably the Freshman Orientation and Post-IVP celebration. One Major event that the club has added to its calendar this year is the SIM Floorball Madness 3 on 3 floorball carnival. The event not only helped to raise the profile of the club but also helped to raise some precious funds for the club and helped bring the club members closer.

This year's IVP competition has been memorable. The girl's team continued to do the school proud by retaining the IVP crown for the 2nd year running without losing a single match. The guy's team has also improved tremendously having assembled a team capable of competing with the creme of the tertiary level.

All these would not have been possible if not for the support shown to the club. The committee has been a pillar of strength for me. Kannan & Charles: you guys have been great. i definitely could not have done it without both of you. Both of you have helped to administer the club issues and finances with great success. Furthermore, both of you helped the club to build an excellent relationship with both student care as well as with the floorball community. I also never had to worry about how the girl's team was doing. This is due to the excellent job done by both Teresa and Jiying. Your passion, commitment and jovial ways were certainly wonderful and refreshing. I am extremely grateful to my committee members. I am also grateful to the club members for the support they have shown to the committee and to the club as a whole.

The new committee has a great mix of both experienced plus new heads. They definitely have the passion and drive to bring the club to the next level. I hope and believe that all club members will give them your utmost support.

Always remember the sky's the limit. There is nothing you can't achieve.

I hope i did not bore you guys with the long write-up. With that, on behalf of the 4th Exco and the rest of the club, i wish the 5th Exco all the best.

Venugopal
President, 4th Exco
SIM Floorball Club
Sizzling Hot from the oven...

After a long day of fun, friendship and floorball during the AGM on Sunday, everyone must be aching all around and having their well deserved rest.

For those who couldn't join us for AGM, please do not feel sad or bad. We understand that you have your reasons. There will be more gatherings or events in future!!! By who? Well, the NEW EXCO of cos...

Introducing the NEW EXCO Team:
President - Teresa
Vice President - Kenneth
Secretary - Jiying
Guys In-Charge - Taufiq
Girls In-Charge - Cin Hui

To serve the club better, hope everyone will give your utmost support to the NEW EXCO team for future events or anything they will require! Remember, "WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!!!".

Tour De KL

Yet another normal TGIF night where normal people will let their hair down for the well-deserved weekend. However, that was not the case for the Blast Super Blacks (BSB). It was a night where they gathered at Golden Mile to be ready to board the coach to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The anxiety and excitment from every player were clearly seen on their faces as they talked about the trip and what is going to happen when they are there. Amazingly, this is the first time the team actually has a bonding trip to know more about one another and play together as a team. Without further a do, let me report about it in the following segments...

Team
This marks the new era for Blast Super Blacks as it is the first time they are traveling overseas to play floorball. With the inauguration of their main sponsor BLAST, the team will be playing with the players from Team Blast under our new coach Gary Huang. Up till today, the team has been facing against strong opponents for friendly matches. For example, SIM IVP Team, TEK, Moosemen, NTU, SMU. This will prepare the team for the Singapore Floorball Division 2 League which will be held in August 2009.

Friendly Matches

Day 1 was not a good start for Blast Super Blacks as every player had only 1-2 hours of sleep during the journey. The stoning and pale look on everyone's face was clearly not something the players want to have on the first match with Malaysian National Team. Nevertheless, the team fought on and get used to the court on that day. Even though they lost, they didn't blame each other for the loss and they understand the situation and were willing to go through as a team. The disappointment on everyone's face was clear as they didn't go there to lose the match unprepared. However, with the encouragement from the coach, manager, captain and team-mates, everyone was looking forward to the 2nd match with the Malaysian National Team. Well, after food and enough sleep and rest of course... =]

Day2 was definitely a good start for the team. Everyone had a wonderful breakfast at the hotel and had enough sleep and rest. They knew there's only one thing left in their mind. That's to play their best and try to win the Malaysian National Team at the 2nd match. Upon reaching the Sports Plaza, the players got ready and team morale was high and energetic. It was clear that in their eyes, they only want to bring back the glory they missed on Day1. When the game was played, it was clear that the team was more prepared and they played so much better. Even the opponents were taken aback by the different intensity and level of play during the 2 days. The win for the day was not clear as both teams equalised the score every time the opponent scored a goal. However, fate was sealed when Blast Super Blacks finally scored the crucial winning goal 5mins before the whistle blew. Both teams took photos together and talked to one another after the game. It truly marked a page in the history of floorball for both teams. Indeed, the glory was brought back with the team's effort and desire to win.

Food, Entertainment & Shopping

BSB has been eating their hearts out in KL. They combed the area around the hotel they stayed in, "Ridiculous" International Hotel (according the captain of the team... haha...). Fast food was a MUST especially when it comes to A&W. As they jalan jalan, they would stop by any nice eateries or get any snacks to eat along the way!

The team went shopping from Sungei Wang to Berjaya Times Square to KLCC and Pertaling Street! Each place gave us different experiences and JOY! For example, KLCC has a PREMIERE toilet which cost RM 2.00 everytime you enter. We went around Sungei Wang in the search of the "Mysterious" Basement2 "Shop"which we couldn't find it until we saw it outside the building while walking to the coach. How about the cheap prank we played on ** *** at Berjaya Times Square? Also, the bargaining and shopping at Pertaling Street! Someone even bought a souvenior item back from KFC!!! hahaha... too bad it didnt work... =X

There was a team bonding dinner on Day1 at "The Ship" where the team get to taste the best steak restaurant and watch the soccer match between Man U and Liverpool. The manager of the restaurant was very nice and thoughtful when he saw one of the players wearing Man U T-shirt (I shall not point out the name of the player...). He told him that he would personally get a separate table for him when Man U lose the match (What to do... the manager's a Liverpool fan! hahaha...). After that, there was a "live" band performing at there. The guys enjoyed the music before the performance from the "Sexy Divas". Who are they and what they performed? Well, it shall stay as a team secret... =]

Overall

I must say that it was really an amazing trip for the players and most importantly the team itself. The players really brought back alot of learning experiences and lessons from Malaysia. The team really bonded in one way or another through the games and silly things everyone do together. Sometimes it is interesting to see another side of the players which you didn't see if you had not been on the trip. Even though the team is still not at its peak or tip top condition, I believe they will be able to work out the differences and play better. It will be amazing to see how the team can play in Div2 after the preparations and trainings they will be getting till the start of the games. Even the players have a somewhat good feeling about the team this year. How would they do??? We will just have to wait and see...

Think you Ken be as funny???

As requested by the public audience, I have interviewed the man who everyone wants to know more of. Yes, he's the guy whom everyone called "blur" and has a "funny" pronunciation.

Everyone, I give you Kenneth Ho from the guys team. He is a Year 1 student from UOL Diploma in Economics. After which, he will choose a degree to continue his 2nd and 3rd year of studies. So is he what everyone says he is? The only way to find out is merely reading on!

Where were you from before coming to SIM??
I took electronic computer engineering in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, wasted 3 yrs there because in the end I study completely different stuff when I came into SIM. The lecturer bluffed me into taking the course as he said that with my results, I confirm can do well.

But why Economics in SIM???
Because the girls in SIM are HOT! Haha... Actually, I like maths stuff and I hate to memorize. I sucked in engineering too. There's one time time I had to do a circuit board like power supply stuff. My lecturer brought it home to check and when he turned it on, it had a mini explosion and white smoke engulfed his room. He f***ed me the next day when he sees me for lesson. From then on, I know I was not a born engineer.

So you are saying that there's no accidents in Economics??
Haha... There won't be any accidents in econs unless I accidentally made someone in my class pregnant. This is called accident! Hahaha...

-__-||| So you were from Ngee Ann floorball team? Tell me about your experience there.
I have gone from a newbie to a floorball player loh! I have learnt alot playing with people like Brandon. Also, the coach was a girl and she's EMILY KOH! I used to have a crush on her when she wasn't my coach. In Ngee Ann Poly floorball team, I was called Rooney as I can run like crazy. Last time when I was in Year 1, I played floorball like no tomorrow. Running everywhere and it pissed my seniors off. Hahaha...

So how have your experience in SIM floorball been so far?
" HAHAHA, ADVENTURE! One word: AWESOME! I have met a great bunch of friends which defintely make my stay in SIM an enjoyable one! Don't you think? =] " - I have wanted to say this! Haha... Well, it has its ups and downs. The up part is getting to know alot of new friends through so many events such as frisbee, sim floorball madness and handball. I didn't know floorball girls are not only sporty but they are also very pretty when they are not in their sports attire.

as he continued to explain further...
Also, the up part is doing suicide as a team during the IVP training. Even though it was very hard for alot of people but we all made it through by encouraging each other. That's where the team spirit and team bonding is formed.

he finally talked about the down part...
The DOWN part was not winning a single game during the IVP. Wow, here's a secret. (Which did not become one after I posted this article!) During the NUS game, my eyes started tearing when they scored the second goal. Right in my mind, I was thinking; all the hard work, 3 days a week training, sometimes even 5 days a week, has gone down the drain. Another down part was losing 3-on-3 semi final to a guy called CHARLES and his team. If my team had won, I would have made Angela's team sweat blood to earn the champions trophy.

There wasn't any trophies given out for that event from what I know of actually. Is this a joke? But I hear from the guys team that you like to follow his footsteps alot. Is it true??
I was born to this world to make people happy. Aiyah.. It's because the girl I like in SIM finds him hot, so I want to learn from him how to be hot.

That's quite funny. So where do you see yourself becoming to in floorball??

I see myself becoming a floorball coach in future. Hopefully I can impart my skills to people who are new to the sport. I also see myself playing in Div1 in the coming years hopefully. I want to challenge myself to be able to survive in Div1. Also, I used to have this dream of being the captain in SIM floorball and lead them to IVP champions in front of alot of people.

Great dreams from you! You don't seem blur as they always say. What do you think??
They made me look blur. I'm not blur at all. I know all the gossips in the club! I keep myself up-to-date with them too. For example, ***** and ***, ******* and ****** (to protect everyone, the names have been censored by the Board of Blacks' Gossips Censorship-BBGC).

So you are not so blur actually but they like to say that Cheryl and you are similar. Do you agree???
In terms of skills, maybe a bit different. She is a defender and I'm an ALL-ROUNDER. Also, she has an Indian name but I don't. Similarity wise, we always get BULLIED by anyone. One more is that we are both ATTRACTIVE!

Bullied?? Are there any examples??
"Where I stay" questions are considered as bullying. But, I'm okay with them bullying me as it makes me feel like an innocent boy. I SHALL BULLY THEM IN THE FLOORBALL COURT!!! Hahaha...

I heard that there's no gossips or rumours about you and you are still single. Just what kind of girl are you looking for???
I hope to find someone who shares the same passion with me. Someone who can turn up and support me in whatever sport I'm taking part in. Someone who wants to be pampered with love. But even if she is a clubber and have completely different personalities with me, I would still be attracted to her because different poles attract to each other. ATTRACTION! Get it??? Hahaha...

I also heard that you admire some girls in the floorball scene. Care to share?
Hahaha.. Like I find ***** very pretty after a competition, ****** is actually very pretty but too bad she graduated, **** is super hot but too bad she's attached, ****** really knows how to dress and she looks like a shining star, ***** is super cute but her impression of me is not very good, *** is another ***** and I like the way she plays as a ******, ****** is a complete girl whom every guy would want by his side. (To protect the interviewee, all names and some words are censored. Happy guessing!!!)

Alright, that's a whole lot of analysis. Hahaha... Lastly, do you have any words for your fellow floorballers in th club??
Stay pretty and handsome as ever! For the guys, keep working hard as with hard work comes success. Maybe, with the new blood coming in next semester, we will be a stronger club. For the girls, stay single and available. I heard that the new batch of floorball guys are way better than those graduating this year. Hahaha... Hopefully we can have more team bonding sessions! Lastly, floorball is not everything as studies are still very important!!!

As everyone can see, Kenneth has a great passion for floorball. His dreams and all the talk about floorball is something that everyone should look up to. He's not as blur and soft spoken as most have said he is. He talks quite abit actually and has quite a good analytical mind. About what? Maybe you should ask him yourself. =D

Ultimately, he is a very funny person to have around in the team. The guys team will see more of his action on court and off court. Well, single ladies if you think he's the guy for you, please do not hestitate and sms Befriend Kenneth to 70028! Each sms costs $0.20. Parental consent has to be given for ladies under 18 years old.

I'm sorry for the long wait for the exciting interviews. I know all of you have been waiting to see who is the next one. Well, not to worry, I'm opening recommendations to everyone. If you have someone in mind, do leave a message on the tagboard!

Till then folks!! Stay tuned for the next interview!!! Thank you so much for reading and supporting till this point!

It's a season to CHE.. ryl...

I know everyone's waiting for this latest article of interview. It will be boring if I only do interviews on guys. So, here's our first lady interviewee; Cheryl Teo. Cheryl's a Year 2 student from UOL Accounting and Finance degree.

Having a hockey background back in her JC days, she has adapted to the sport and played as a defender in the recent IVP too! So with further-a-do, let's read on and know more insights about this bubbly character in the club!

Why floorball? What attracted you to join in the first place??
The opportunity to meet new friends and the excitement of taking up something fun and new.

You seemed like an adventurous person. Are you one??
Can i assumed that I am one myself? That's a difficult question to answer! It's interesting to think that I will consider mysel
f an adventurous person. I always imagine myself backpacking around the world with no money at all!

So how has your adventure been in floorball so far???
HAHAHA, ADVENTURE! One word: AWESOME! I have met a great bunch of friends w
hich defintely make my stay in SIM an enjoyable one! Don't you think? =]

Yup, definitely I think so too! But it seems like they are always bullying you and even gave you a nick name.
Hmm... Sometimes I always wonder why. But if you think of it right, if there was no entertainment like that or so called, it would be a situation where you just stare at me, and I just stare at you. Then, there would be nothing to joke about and everything! But I bet someday, or maybe soon, some other poor being will be in the same state as me. That way, I would be free!

Haha. But I don't think they are willing to set you free.

If dumbo the elephant can fly, so can ANUSHA. On a serious note, it's a choice whether I want to be free and not whether they would be willing to set me free.

Hahaha... So how did the name ANUSHA come about?
Hmm... Let me think how the name come about... Oh yeah! On a sunday I think, they decided to go to the zoo. I obviously overslept and decided not to come. So my DEAR FLOORBALL FRIENDS, I guess they were pretty tired from the training and started hallucinating (images of me started appearing when they saw the elephant photo.) and thought the last one was me (WISE and old). The last one was called ANUSHA!

It seems like you are one important friend to them that they missed you so much.
Yeah! They missed me so much that images started to appear. Although I am going to see them the next day, by tagging me as the monkey, elephant, hippo on facebook even though I was not there just made me feel how important I am to them.

They don't want you to miss out on all the fun especially when the fun is on you. =]
Yeah I think so too! But I don't see the reason why I am the monkey, elephant and hippo? Can't I be the PENGUINS? Luckily, they did not tag me as the pig. hahaha...

Why penguins???
The way they swim in the ocean seems so carefree and everything. Or, Eagle. I can a birdeye view of everything.

That's quite an interesting and reflective thought. You don't seem so blur as they said actually. Are you??
Not really. I may appear to be but I am not one. If you observe closely, I am not really blur. When you are tired, your brains can't function well enough so everything seems blur.

Bimbo and blur come together. Are you one too?
No, I'm not a bimbo as I'm not blur. Yeah!

I know you are not attached but what kind of guys do attract you?
Someone worth sticking with! If one day I met him, then I will sum up all the characteristics. Then that's the kind of guy worth waiting for! Haha, but I dont mind a blood sucking vampire boyfriend who could grab you in his arms and take you somewhere faraway that could able to take your breathe away, like Edward from Twilight!

That's quite a fantasy! It seems like playing as a defender can be a fantasy. Do you like this postition??
I dont know how to describe to you but when playing as a defender basically it's the shiok feeling that you prevent your opponent from scoring a goal.

That's great to have you really do your job and striving to achieve that feel for you. So, where do you see yourself in floorball??
I see myself starting and wanting to appreciate and love the sport. Not wanting to score more goals, or defend more goals. Each time I step outside the court I know I did my best and play my part in the team no matter what the scoreline is. It is that kind of satisfaction that I want to achieve out of floorball. Maybe asking them to stop calling me Anausha and slowly appreciating my name!!

A great athlete to be, the other players should also aim to achieve that. Other than floorball, do you have any other goals??

To be a better man!!! Robbie Williams!! =]

-_-||| You want to be a man???

Eh man can be defined as he or she, can go wiki it!

Hahaha.. Alright, do you have any words for the floorballers before we end the interview???

Obviously!!! Stop bullying me!!! I think someone should initiate to start a campaign for me. hahaha... The world will become a better place FOR SURE if they stop bullying me! =]

As everyone can see, the interview was a fun and funny one. No wonder she is the lovable character in the girls team. The girls will agree on this as many of you will be nodding at the same time you read this article! =D

I do realise there is another side of Cheryl that she is not that blur from her interview. Maybe someone should help her start the campaign "Stop Bullying Anusha!". Cheryl will be delighted if there's kind-hearted souls to join the campaign too! haha...

As for those who have yet to be interviewed, please do not run away as YOU could be the next one!!! Stay tune for the weekly interview by your Friendly Reporter!!

Enjoy reading and please don't laugh too loud! hahahaha.... Thank you for staying with me till this point.

The gift of GAB

Yes, the first interviewee we have is none other than Gabriel Teo from the guys team. He may just be a Year 1 student from RMIT Economics and Finance degree, but he has showed the seniors his drive and eagerness to play even though he knew nothing about floorball when he entered SIM.

All I can say is that he's one of the prom
ising young lads we have in the team. So, let's read on to know more about him as a person, team-mate and friend!

Firstly, the readers will want to know more about you. How about telling us what do you like to do?
Eh...what normal guys like to do... soccer, guitar, chilling and practice tapping the ball in front of the tv. ok maybe not the 4th one. =]

Guitar? As in the jamming type?
Nope I'm not the jamming type. I do classical and acoustic occasionally.

How about a band of your own and doing band or solo acts??
No band. If I need singing, I do it myself or pair up with my JC friend. Performance wise will be my friend who does the singing. We only replicate songs as we don't have inspiration or talent to write our own. I'm not good enough to perform solo la. Just occasional playing...

That's being humble... Then, what made you want to join SIM Floorball?
I wanted to try something new and my friend asked me to join too. But it seemed interesting, so decided to give it a try. Furthermore, it was more of wanting to join something to make my school life more fulfilling and a chance to kick the other UNIs assess... hur hur...

And, how has your floorball experience been so far??
Everyone has been very accommodating and patient with me as I knew nuts about floorball when i joined. The opportunity to play in the league, to see IVP games and to play with the more experienced and skillful players have been very enriching. On top of that, everyone has been very encouraging and accepting of me as a member so that has given me that morale boost. :D

Wow, the other seniors will be thrilled to hear these words from you. haha...
Yeah I wasn't like ostracized or avoided just because I was year 1 or could not play properly. The sense of belonging really helps in maintaining that interest and accelerates the learning curve.

So is there anyone in the floorball scene you look up to?
I have played for less than half a year. Up to now, I have not seen enough of players' playing to want to look up to them. That makes things easier for me as I would not be in awe or underestimate any player or any team. All would require my max output! When I have seen enough, my idol would be the sportsman who displays sportsmanship, respects the referee, his opponents and the game.

Agreed with your words of wisdom, all players should be taking note of this too. Having said so much about your experience, where do you see yourself becoming to in floorball?
For the next three years at least, I will stay with SIM Blacks. I should start scoring more goals and not just get stuck in corners already. After that, I'm really not sure cos it is quite expensive compared to soccer and my main circle of friends are not floorball players. Plus, traveling to TSH for games is not very fun. It should remain purely recreational in teams which still want me I guess. haha...

Alrighty, that's all for the part between Floorball and you. How about moving on to the more juicy and fun part now?
Hahaha...

Everyone has been discussing about you having a striking resemblance with one of the senior player, so what is your relationship with him exactly??
Haha... The closest relationship is that he was one of the seniors who started teaching me how to play. We bluffed people that we are cousins and they believe! hahaha... but I would believe too lar.. I think we look abit similar lar... Hur hur...

There was another thing or RUMOUR about you and a girl from the club. So, what have you got to say about this??
What I have to say? (&^#*^#*&#.... The rumour started when I was bathing after a league game. Kannan just shouted: Eh GABRIEL YOU LIKE HER AHZ.. I said, WHO IS SHE? Kannan shouted back: OH, SO YOU LIKE HER!

Are you trying to say that all the heat of debating and discussion was for nothing??
Yar it's not true. It's rumours and we only know each other by name.

Now that you have clarified, so are you single and available???
I am happily attached to Miss Scream!

Miss Scream? Who is she???
My Exel Scream!!! hee hee... Anyway, yes. I am single and waiting for Miss Right to appear.

-_-||| Then what are the qualities u will look for when you search for Miss Right?
Tough question... hmm... It's the H word! HweeLing!!! After I get to know a girl, if she is Miss Right, I would know the Hweeling, and the qualities will fall into place.

Other than the Hweeling (feeling), are there any other factors or characteristics a girl possesses that attracts you???
Ermm she would have to be understanding, independent yet dependent, and she'll be the one I cannot live without. :D

Having said about your ideal soulmate, is there any goal or achievement you will like to set for yourself?
All my goals which I had set for myself were dashed before I turned 21. So for now, my goal would be to enjoy my life till I die. Having a high paying job would be a bonus!! You know... work in the day. At night, sit by the sea with my wife see the sunset and sip martinis...

But you are in year 1 only, it's a long term goal that you have set and most importantly you don't have a girlfriend yet! haha...
haha yar lar.. But that thought is very soothing and calming. It's better than to compete with people to exist. I rather live my life than fight to exist.

Philosophical words you have there young man, do you have any words for your fellow floorballers??
Live and play with passion! Do unto people what you want people to do unto you!

That's about all for the interview, thank you Gabriel.
haha quite fun eh!

On the whole, Gabriel is a funny guy with a unique sense of humour as we can see from the interview or for those who know him personally. On top of that, it was really comforting for seniors to see someone as passionate as him to be in the team!

Girls, wait no more... You can forget about looking at this month's Cleo magazine for eligible bachelors cos you are looking at one now!!!
Hot HoT HOT!!! GrAB him... =]

Stay tuned for the next target. It can be anyone!! If you want to recommend a friend, please feel free to recommend to our Special Reporter!!!

Till then for more juicy and informative post!!! Thank you for reading. Hope you enjoy it. I know u did!!! hahaha... =P

Supporters can take the bus from school to ITE Simei with our lovely ladies at 4.30pm. Please meet at the main entrance outside the atrium.

Fans can get their autographs and pictures after the match.
